In the Singles B competition matches, our newcomer Sabber MD surprised from the start. In a ’round-robin’ group, he gave his competitors no chance with 6 victories. Only Daniel Rosenbaum, who finished third, was able to challenge him that day, but narrowly lost in the fifth set. The strong-playing Maximilian Schmid virtually outclassed his opponents, losing only one set in 5 matches, but had no chance against the eventual title winner that day. Singles B standings: 1. Sabber MD (6:0 wins/18:4 sets), 2. Maximilian Schmid (5:1/15:4), 3. Daniel Rosenbaum (3:3/12:9), 4. Paul Bertram (3:3/11:10), 5. Simon Scholer (3:3/10:9), 6. Jan Räth and 7. Noreen Sheikh
From the outset, the expected duel between the two favorites, Jeremias Kobold and defending champion Sebastian Wucher, emerged in the Singles A category. Both won their matches round after round, making it predictable that the Club Champion 2025 would be determined between these two in a true final match in the last round of play. After a dominant performance, challenger Jeremias Kobold was already leading 2:0 in sets and looked like the sure winner when he was up 5:1 in the third set. The match’s turnaround can only be explained by the old adage: one felt too secure and eased up, while the other had nothing left to lose and played with more risk. Sebastian Wucher suddenly played with much more pressure, stayed consistently at the table, and gradually pushed his opponent further and further back into defense. In the end, the last three sets went 11:9 to Sebastian Wucher, who thus defended his title from the previous year. Sebastian Peter delivered a remarkably strong performance that day, only having to concede to the two finalists, winning all other matches, and deservedly securing third place by a clear margin. Singles A standings: 1. Sebastian Wucher, 2. Jeremias Kobold, 3. Sebastian Peter, 4. Stefan Wucher, 5. Leonhard Wagner, 6. Luca Mammitzsch 7. Gabriel Kobold and 8. Sayme Amet
