Strong Performance by Chousein Amet in Langweid – Chousein Amet is Swabian Champion 2025

At the 2025 Adult District Singles Championships Swabia South and Swabia North in Langweid, two Mindelheim players also competed and delivered excellent performances. In a strong field of participants, both Chousein Amet and Simon Hacker successfully held their own in the preliminary round. In preliminary group 1, Chousein Amet narrowly prevailed in a group of three and secured his entry into the knockout round. Club colleague Simon Hacker also impressed in his group of four with three victories, reaching the next round as group winner.
The final round then took place in a knockout system, and in the round of sixteen, Simon Hacker met Björn Reis (TV Dillingen) and Chousein Amet met Tim Schröppel from TSV Nördlingen. With dedicated performances, both won 3:1 and thus reached the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, Simon Hacker could not prevail against Jérôme Fischer (TSV Gersthofen) and clearly lost in three sets with 0:3. Amet, on the other hand, continued to be in top form and won his match against Roman Hutfluss (SV Untermeitingen) with 3:1. In the semi-finals, a high-class duel then took place between Chousein Amet and Jérôme Fischer. After an intense exchange of blows and a temporary 2:1 deficit, Amet finally narrowly secured victory in the decisive fifth set with 11:9 and celebrated his entry into the final. In the second semi-final, Christian Wengenmeier prevailed against Andrzej Plucik (TSV Seeg-Hopferau-Eisenberg) with 3:1.
The final was then Chousein Amet (TSV Mindelheim) against Christian Wengenmeier (SV Adelsried). After initial nervousness and losing the first set, Amet found his rhythm, turned the match around with focused attacking play, and finally won the following three sets with 11:9, 11:5, and 11:8. With this well-deserved success, he brought a Swabian championship title back to Mindelheim after a long time.

Exciting Duels at the 2025 Senior Club Championships in Singles and Doubles

On October 3, the club championships of the TSV Mindelheim table tennis department took place. In exciting and hard-fought matches, the best doubles pairs and, of course, the best singles player were determined.
To kick things off, the doubles club champions were traditionally determined – as usual, through drawn pairings. In the “round robin” format, favorites Tom Handloser and Timo Schütt ultimately prevailed convincingly and secured the title. Second place went to Chousein Amet and Roland Arnold, followed by Marc Justra and Lars Buchholz in third place.
Subsequently, the singles competitions were on the program, which were initially held in a group using the Swiss System. After exciting preliminary round matches, the top four players qualified for the semi-finals. There, Tom Handloser, as the undefeated first-place finisher in the preliminary round, met fourth-placed Simon Hacker, and Chousein Amet (2nd) met Timo Schütt (3rd).
In two impressive matches, Tom Handloser and Chousein Amet prevailed and reached the final. In the match for third place, Timo Schütt then got the upper hand against Simon Hacker. Tom Handloser ultimately won the final convincingly, thereby crowning himself Club Champion 2025.

Our New Outfit Successfully Debuted at the Bibercup 2025

The long summer break is coming to an end, and the first preparatory tournaments have taken place. At one of the traditional tournaments in northern Augsburg, the Bibercup, winners were determined in 4 performance categories with two-person teams. This involved a group stage leading to the knockout rounds, from quarter-finals to semi-finals and then the final.
At the premiere of the TT department’s new outfit, we competed with two teams. In the highest playing class (1530 – 3000 TTR points), Tom Handloser/Chousein prevailed in the group stage with two convincing victories (4:1 and 5:0) and a narrow defeat (2:3). After a narrow 3:2 victory in the quarter-finals, their journey ended just as narrowly with a 2:3 defeat in the semi-finals against the eventual winner, state league team TB Beinstein from Baden-Württemberg. In the match for 3rd place, they then convincingly won 4:1.
In the second-highest class (1395 – 1529 TTR points), the duo Simon Hacker/Timo Schütt competed. Undefeated with 3 victories in the group stage, they dispatched their opponents 5:0 in both the quarter-finals and semi-finals, confidently reaching the Bibercup 2025 final. The course of the match could not have been more exciting. The first singles match and the doubles went incredibly close, with the opponents winning the deciding set 11:9. In the second singles match, Timo Schütt then narrowed the gap with a confident 2:0 victory. The overall score was thus 2:1 before Simon Hacker then leveled it with an equally convincing 2:0, meaning the last singles match had to decide. Unfortunately, luck was not on Mindelheim’s side there either, and both sets went to Gersthofen with the narrowest possible score of 11:9.

We Have a New Department Head and Deputy... July 2025

Department Head Roland Arnold’s introduction began with a review of the past year, which made many of the numerous attendees reminisce fondly once again. It was the most successful year since the department’s inception, with an incredible tally of 6 championship titles, 1 vice-championship, the district cup, the regional cup, the association cup, and 3rd place in the Bavaria Cup. Hosting the 40th Two-Person Team Tournament around Epiphany, as well as the District Championships with 180 participants, was once again a highlight. And last but not least, as hosts, they also won the 34th traditional City Cup tournament at the end of the season. A year packed with highlights, and numerous honors from the Bavarian Table Tennis Association also followed. Members of the department were honored with the BTTV Certificate of Honor and Performance Pin for long-standing achievements. For 50 years, these were Karlheinz Simmet, Folker Königbauer, Roman Kretzinger, Wolfgang Axmann, Helmut Schiegg, and for 30 years, Ulrike Rohrmoser.
The last item on the agenda was probably the most important one at the moment. Already in the previous year, the former Department Head Roland Arnold, as well as his deputy Robert Haydu, had expressed the wish to hand over the office to younger hands. Since then, an internal search for a new duo had been underway, and they finally found it in two of the youngest new additions, Simon Hacker and Timo Schütt. Both were eager to take on the challenging task and put themselves forward for election. But first, the 1st Chairman of the entire club, Mitko Pertemov, took the opportunity that evening to say a few words about the outgoing department leadership. He indeed had to elaborate extensively to adequately highlight the decades-long commitment of both. He also emphasized that he himself, as the current 1st Chairman, benefited from the guidelines that Roland Arnold had introduced long before him as the 1st Chairman of the entire club. He thanked them for their exceptional voluntary commitment over many decades and concluded with commendable words about the willingness of the two new candidates for the offices.
The acting Department Head Roland Arnold, in his last official act, asked Mitko Pertemov to serve as election chairman, which he gladly accepted. Although both candidates have only been in the department for about 2 years, they have been “fully integrated” from the very first training session, as the saying goes. Nevertheless, Simon Hacker and Timo Schütt took the opportunity to sketch a small self-portrait and officially introduce themselves. The subsequent vote was hardly surprising: Simon Hacker was unanimously elected Department Head, and Timo Schütt was also unanimously elected Deputy. Election chairman Mitko Pertemov, as well as Roland Arnold and Robert Haydu, congratulated both on their election, wished them much success and good fortune, and gladly assured them of their help during the initial period if needed.

Local Hero Simon Hacker Wins BTTV Bavarian TT-Race Tournaments

As part of the BTTV Bavarian TT-Race Tournaments, the TSV Mindelheim table tennis department hosted two tournaments of this series for the first time on May 17. The tournaments are played using the “Swiss System,” which is similar to a “round robin” system but does not play out all rounds. At 10 AM, 12 participants started the first tournament of the day, including local heroes Simon Hacker and Timo Schütt, who also organized the tournament. While Timo Schütt had a somewhat bumpy start to the tournament, things went smoothly for Simon Hacker, and after six rounds, he was declared the winner. The top three finishers: 1. Simon Hacker (TSV Mindelheim), 2. Sebastian Panizza (Arena Augsburg), 3. Harald Eisenlauer (TSV Burtenbach).
The second tournament of the day began at 2 PM, and the physically strong Mindelheim player was also competing here again. This time, his opponents demanded significantly more from him, and he quickly fell behind by 2:0 sets in the first two matches. However, he managed to turn both matches around with utmost concentration and won them both 3:2. The following three matches went convincingly 3:0 in his favor, and after another narrow 3:2 victory, he emerged as the overall winner in the second tournament as well. The top three finishers: 1. Simon Hacker (TSV Mindelheim), 2. Manfred Migsch (SV Weiler), 3. Axel Handlos (SG Scheidegg).

2024/25 Season with an impressive record – 4 championship titles, one runner-up, a third place, 5 promotions

Christian Peter, Chousein Amet, Marc Justra, Thomas Handloser
Undefeated with 40:0 points and an incredible game ratio of 177:23, the “First Team” lived up to its role as favorite in District Class A and will play in the District League next season. While all players showed an outstanding record, which can easily be seen from the game ratio, one record still stands out. Thomas Handloser did not lose a single match in the round (40:0), has been undefeated in all competitions for 1 year, and played a record of 18:1 with his doubles partner Marc Justra. The successful team played almost the entire round with its regular lineup, and even when substitutes were needed, Simon Hacker, Roman Kretzinger, and Folker Königbauer remained undefeated.
Martin Wenzel, Simon Hacker, Timo Schütt, Roman Kretzinger
Starting the season as top favorites alongside TTC Hausen, the team stumbled in their very first match against their own “Third Team,” which played in the same class. The burden of this defeat followed the “Second Team” throughout the season, and after both matches against TTC Hausen ended in a draw, they were always 2 points behind Hausen until the penultimate matchday. Then Hausen surprisingly lost in Warmisried, which meant that both teams were tied on points (32:4) at the end of the season. The outstanding second half of the season, with six 10:0 victories, two 9:1 victories, and the draw, then secured the championship title for the Second Team with a lead of just 4 games.
Folker Königbauer, Wolfgang Schobeß, Jim Simmet, Wolf-Dieter Pechhold
With a strong first half and only a narrow defeat (4:6 in Hausen), Captain Wolfgang Schobeß’s team secured the vice-championship title at mid-season and was the number 1 contender, just one point behind. To strengthen the second team, the player carousel was set in motion during the mid-season break, and the “Third Team” began the second half of the season with a changed lineup. Despite losing their best players, the “Over 60s Team” (with the exception of the “still-a-chick” Wolfgang Schobeß) showed a dedicated performance and confidently secured third place in the final standings. It is worth noting that all players also helped out in the second team and can therefore also adorn themselves with the championship title.
Wolfgang Axmann, Franz Hetzl, Eduard Alf, Helmut Schiegg (missing)
Still undefeated in the preliminary round and confidently at the top of the table with only one draw, becoming autumn champions, the Fourth Team also had to make sacrifices during the mid-season break and lost their top player Timo Schütt to the 2nd team. Accordingly, the second half of the season was bumpy, and with three narrow defeats (4:6 each) against their toughest competitors, the team managed to cross the finish line in the last match with a narrow 6:4 victory and secured the championship title. The outstanding doubles record with 32:4 victories throughout the season can certainly be cited as a decisive factor.
Arno Müller, Thimo Böhm, Lars Buchholz, Matthäus Beyrle
The 5th team was also undefeated in the preliminary round and secured the autumn championship. However, they unfortunately could not compensate for the loss of having to give up their best player for the second half of the season. In the second half of the season, they narrowly lost many matches and, in the end, could only secure the vice-championship title with a better game ratio, which also qualified them for promotion.
Front: Roland Arnold, Ulrike Rohrmoser, Helga Welz, Ufuk Ünsal; Back: Jeremias Kobold, Marc Mayer, Peter Weyh-Immerz, Ulrich Schrauder (Ute Ritter is missing from the picture)
Confident and undefeated in the preliminary round, Captain Roland Arnold’s team secured the autumn championship. In the second half of the season, the Sixth Team also left no doubt that they would be at the top by the end of the season. After the 5:5 draw in the penultimate match against contender Wiedergeltingen, the championship was secured, and the only defeat in the last match could no longer change anything. Uli Rohrmoser can confidently be named as the guarantor for the championship title and the associated promotion, having played an outstanding season with her singles record of 18:3.

2024 season ends with championship title for both youth teams...

In youth table tennis leagues, there is no usual season with a first half (before Christmas/autumn) and a second half (after Christmas/spring). Instead, two seasons are played per year, one complete season before and one after Christmas, respectively.

TSV Mindelheim department meeting in a special format...

To give everyone the opportunity to get to know the other departments and sports of TSV Mindelheim, the meetings were alternately moved to the respective sports facilities of the departments. This time it was table tennis’s turn, and after the official meeting, everyone had the opportunity to demonstrate their skill with the small ball in a small competition. For this, TT youth coach Folker Königbauer had prepared three games where points could be earned.
In the first game, everyone had to try to return 10 balls played by a table tennis robot, and in game 2, the balls were to be served into opposing nets or two targets were to be hit. 1 point was awarded for each hit in both games, and at this point, most participants were still tied. The final game involved knocking down cans. These had numbers printed on them, which were to be earned as points. Similar to a carnival shooting gallery, these had to be hit with table tennis balls. Here, in addition to accuracy, a certain sharpness was required to shoot the tin cans off the table, as only these counted. The “open-air pool table tennis players” used their experience here and scored well, even if sometimes with a bit of luck.
Ultimately, everyone had fun, and the top three scorers were honored at the end by deputy TT department head Robert Haydu with a certificate and gold (Mitko Pertemov/Board), silver (Simon Tuglu/Badminton), and bronze (Caro Eckers/Swimming) medals.

THE TT DEPARTMENT OF TSV MINDELHEIM HOSTED THE DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

On the weekend of October 26/27, the table tennis elite from all over Swabia met for the District Championships in Mindelheim. With 180 participants (women and men), singles, doubles, and mixed events were played on 16 tables across all performance classes. After a group stage in the preliminary round, the top 2 from each group advanced to a single-elimination knockout system. While the favored Markus Bott dominated the competition in the premier class, a just 12-year-old stirred things up considerably in the Men’s B class…

The Club Champions of the 2024/25 Season

TT-Logo-with-Ball_white.png
In fair and exciting matches, this year’s Mindelheim table tennis champions were sought, and first, the club champions in doubles were determined in traditionally drawn pairings. In the “round robin” system, the favorites quickly emerged, and the top-ranked pairing of Thomas Handloser/Marc Justra ultimately prevailed with a flawless record of 5:0 wins and 15:2 sets. The third-placed Wolf-Dieter Pechhold and Christian Peter showed a very strong performance in the match for the vice-title but after a balanced 5-set match, they still had to concede to Chousein Amet and Simon Hacker. The performance of Timo Schütt and Matthäus Beyrle was remarkable; as the “supposedly” weakest doubles team (by ranking), they still left 2 renowned doubles teams behind them.
The singles competition was naturally marked by the returnees Thomas Handloser and Chousein Amet, who, after several years in higher-class leagues, at times even the association league, are now playing for TSV Mindelheim again. Play began in two drawn groups of 6, in which the top three from each group ultimately played for the club championship in a final round of 6. The highly favored number 1 in the rankings, Thomas Handloser, ultimately prevailed very confidently without losing a single match or set. The battle for the vice-championship was significantly more exciting. Here, Chousein Amet and Christian Peter were tied on points and sets at the end. Only due to the direct comparison did Chousein Amet come out ahead. Simon Hacker impressed with a strong performance that day, first achieving the vice-doubles championship with his drawn doubles partner Chousein Amet, and then even beating him in the singles competition. With his long pimples, he caused difficulties for many higher-ranked opponents; only against veteran Martin Wenzel did he remain without a chance.
The remaining places 7 to 12 were played out by the last three from each of the two groups of 6. And here too, it could hardly have been closer. After everyone had played against everyone else, 3 players were tied with 4:1 wins. Folker Königbauer narrowly came out ahead with 14:4 sets and took 7th place in the final standings. Wolfgang Schobeß and Timo Schütt were tied on sets, both 13:5, and here the direct comparison ultimately decided in favor of Wolfgang Schobeß (8th), Timo Schütt (9th).
Below are a few pictures of the singles final between Thomas Handloser and Chousein Amet, which thrilled with numerous high-class rallies. And also, a big thank you once again to the excellent tournament management by Roland Arnold and Robert Haydu, who ensured a smooth running of the competitions.
