One table tennis player to another: “Hey, does your coach really know anything about table tennis?”
The player replies: “Absolutely! Before games, he always tells me exactly how I need to play to win, and afterwards, he explains why I lost anyway.”

It's more than just putting the ball into play – The Serve
The serve is the only shot in the game that only you can influence. The following factors are important and can be changed during the serve.

Long Pips – Don't panic, you just need to understand it!
Many start to sweat when they see the opponent coming with pips. But it’s not rocket science; you just need to understand what the pips actually do. In short, they simply reverse the spin of the ball. Focusing on this spin reversal is therefore the absolute most important thing. Here are a few tips for playing against long pips.
1_Note: The long pips themselves cannot generate spin. The pips only take on the spin you play!
2_So: If you give spin, you get spin!
3_But: The spin you play is reversed by the pips. If you play underspin, you will get topspin back. If you play topspin, you will get underspin back. A simple explanation can be found in “Tips and Info on Long Pips.pdf” for download.
4_Tip: For pips players, balls without pressure/without spin are often the most difficult. And you can be sure that no spin will come back.
