As is traditional on 3 October, the table tennis section’s club championships were once again on the programme at TSV Mindelheim. Thrilling rallies, close calls and plenty of sporting spirit made for an eventful day of competition. In the end, both old and new club champions were celebrated – and one player even managed to secure a hat-trick of titles.
As is traditional, the tournament kicked off with the doubles competition, in which the pairings were drawn at random. Exciting and, at times, extremely close matches unfolded right from the two preliminary round groups. Tom Handloser and Eduard Alf topped their group ahead of Christian Peter and Helga Welz. In the second group, Chousein Amet and Folker Königbauer put in a particularly strong performance: without dropping a single set, they confidently secured top spot in the group ahead of Hacker and Pechhold. In the semi-finals, too, the two group winners left nothing to chance and deservedly progressed to the final. There, it initially looked as though there might be an upset: Amet and Königbauer got off to the better start and took the first set. However, Handloser/Alf were not fazed by this. As the match progressed, they found increasingly effective ways to counter their opponents’ play. A thrilling and hard-fought final ensued, in which Handloser/Alf ultimately clinched the decisive points and were crowned the 2026 club doubles champions.

A successful return for the B Championship
The reintroduction of the B Championship, which was held for the first time in quite a while, added to the excitement. Players from the fourth team onwards were eligible to take part. The return of the competition was well received and proved to be a welcome addition to the club championships. In a ‘round-robin’ format, every point was fiercely contested. In the end, Andreas Mayer came out on top and was delighted to be crowned the 2026 B Club Champion. Jasmin Jakljevic finished second, with Helga Welz coming third ahead of Roland Arnold.
The A Championship ultimately proved to be the sporting highlight of the day. Divided into two groups of five, the participants first battled it out to secure the best possible starting position for the quarter-finals. Tom Handloser dominated the first group, whilst Simon Hacker came out on top in the second. After the quarter-finals, things got really exciting again in the semi-finals. Defending champion Handloser prevailed against Timo Schütt, whilst Hacker won his semi-final against Chousein Amet. This set up a final between the two group winners, and Handloser once again came out on top in this decisive match. Following his successes in the previous two years, he once again defended his title and was crowned club champion for 2026 – his third consecutive club championship title – completing the hat-trick.
